We will strive to provide the skills for higher academic standards through critical thinking, while seeking to improve the social, emotional and spiritual development of each child.
History/Establishment
Background
The Tucker-Clarke Primary School formerly the Newtown Primary is situated at the Paul Southwell Drive, Ponds Pasture. The school was built in 1966 and renamed Tucker-Clarke in 2000 in honour of the outstanding contributions in education of two former Headteachers of this school, Ms. Christine Tucker and Mrs. Dorothy Clarke.
The Tucker-Clarke Primary School is one of the larger primary schools in the Federation with an enrolment of 425 pupils from mainly the East Basseterre community known as Newtown. The school has produced many excellent students in academics, sports and politics such as Willa Liburd ( state scholar), Tiandra Ponteen ( olympian), Keith 'Kyamba' Gumbs ( professional soccer player) and Honourable Earl Matin ( Government Minister).
There are 21 classes at the school along with facilities such as Computer Lab, Science Lab, Library/Resource Center, and Reading Recovery Center.
